Artifort origins were laid by the upholsterer Jules Wagemans in Maastricht, The Neatherlands in 1890. Henricus Wagemans his sone eventually expanded the upholstery business into a furniture factory which had a showroom in Amsterdam by the end of the 1920’s. In an attempt to survive the impact of the 1930 recession some changes had to be made, the name Artifort was created along with a new logo which gave the brand a strong identity the furniture naturally followed suit.
