Which office chairs feature in M’s office in the blockbuster Quantum of Solace? The chair is appropriately named Silver chair and is made by the german office chair manufacturer Interstuhl and was designed by the Hamburg Architect Hadi Teherani. The Bond Brand has always shown the very best in interiors other high end products so it was only natural that the set designers should choose the Silver chair other its contempories as it has been beautifully designed. There are two versions of the chair shown in the Bond classic the medium back version was appointed to Judy Dench in the film. Martin Long the Managing Director of Intersthul stated that the silver range is distinctive and excludes opulence and character and having the chair feature in the James Bond film was a great compliment.

Iren Uffici is an Italian manufacturer that was founded in 1958. The company originally set out to design and manufacture office furniture. After 40 years of trading, it was in 1992 that the company decided to branch out of the office furniture market and to team up with designer Piero Lissoni.
The goal was to produce office furniture that still had all the elements of charm and ornateness but keeping in mind simplicity. What was produced from this change in business direction was a range of new products that whilst keeping the trademark of elegant furniture, brought a more minimalistic design.
Today, Iren Uffici still provides high-end quality furniture at affordable prices, but still keeping in mind their vision of the “office”.

It’s not often that we see office furniture break out into the art world; however a new exhibit opening in Muskegon Museum of Art (MMA) in Michigan contains past and present designs and prototypes by Herman Miller. Two of Herman’s most renowned chairs, the Aeron and the Eames lounge chair will be present at the exhibition. Whilst both chairs are aesthetically pleasing, it is a new exhibit that celebrates good industrial design that gives these chairs and Herman’s back catalogue the right to be included.
The exhibition opened on August 21st and will be displayed in Michigan until November 8th. The exhibition is scheduled to be displayed across the United States in at least seven museums.
It’s the Aeron’s and Eames’ solution of creating ergonomic postures for people of all shapes and sizes that gives these chairs the right to have a place in the exhibition. Whilst the Aeron is more of an office chair, it’s the Eames chair that seems more unbelievable as it manages to give the user a laid back relaxing position, whilst still being able to help support them ergonomically.
The Eames lounge chair is available on our website by clicking the link below:

The two terms have been around the office furniture marketplace for a while and refer to desks or workstations that are set aside for workers who are not office based but need a facility to use a desk when they are in the office. Sales people are good examples of workers who may not need a permanent desk if they spend much of their time in the field. Hot desks can take the form of a mobile meeting tables or simple “touch down” areas with quick and easy access to power and data provided by Harmony cable management units. Mobile storage units can also be used and a convenient way of storing files and a simple surface to work on when in the office. Much depends on the amount of time spent in the office and the type of work and of course the available space. Good design in this case can not only help save space but improve staff efficiency and communication. There is a lot of office furniture available which comes under the banner of hot desking but these items seldom work without an overall appreciation of the office design and practices

Design tips
Introducing colour for very little or no cost.
Colour in the workplace can have a stimulating effect, just by brightening the workspace and increasing its identity can have the effect of increasing staff morale and giving them a sense of belonging. Vertical surfaces should be given the most consideration since these will be seen more. In terms of the office furniture the backs of the office chairs can be used to great effect, most office chairs can be specified with an alternative fabric on the back of the chair to the seat. Given that the back will receive less wear it is sometimes useful to have the seat in black and the back in a brighter colour. In addition office chairs that have upholstered backs with give a greater opportunity to introduce colour than the black plastic back chairs. Office screens provide another chance to introduce colour. We would recommend colours from the Lucia range of screens fabrics which have corresponding colours in the Xtreme range for office seating. Pedestal and cupboard drawer fronts are another possibility, the Kompass range of cupboards offers doors in a variety of wood finishes as well as blue and yellow.
