We have extended our range of glass display cabinets to include the MPC and GPC ranges. These glass showcases are available at an excellent price and come assembled, with the exception of the internal glass shelves. Mobile filing systems are a great way to save floor space.  Storage cabinets can be placed on a raised platform with inset rails and opened only at the space required. The cabinets can be arranged sideways which is the most common method or alternatively
In a “slide aside” system the mobile run of cabinets is placed in front of a static section of cabinets the front row of cabinets is then pushed either left or right to allow access to the back row. Such solutions needn’t be that expensive either since it is sometimes possible to use existing cabinets of the same size, the only outlet is then the base and installation costs. It is also possible to utilise this system with open racking. There are also excellent security benefits with these two filing systems as the whole structure can be locked into place when not in use. Floor loading should also be considered, condensing all of your storage into a more condensed footprint will put a greater strain on the floor, if the installation is planned for the upper floors in an office block we would recommend you consult with a structural engineer.

Magirond revolving storage
A perfect solution for storage of A4 lever arch files in compact spaces in a busy office environment. Magirond is particularly useful when the speed of file retrieval is important.
Each tier holds up to 24 lever arch files in a space of only 800mm diameter, which means that within the 2270mm high unit then 144 A4 lever arch files can be stored, this compares around 60 in a tambour cupboard. Filing Systems The Pro’s and Cons
In my last post I determined the three main types of traditional office filing as being shelf filing, vertical filing and lateral filing and a promise to explore the features of each.
Shelf filing
Files placed on shelves in lever arch or box files can be placed in tall cabinets and is good for archiving or filing documents that aren’t used often. When space is at a premium it is often worthwhile to consider the amount of space that is not utilised within these files themselves. We have seen semi archival filing systems which have only a few sheets in box files  while other departments are trying to find open plan space, in one office in particular we have redesigned the whole area and released vital floor spece by reducing the size of the archival filing system.
Vertical filing is the most popular form of filing in the UK often in the form of wooden and metal four drawer filing cabinets. It is ideal where the files are retrieved and refilled on a medium to high frequency basis. It is less space efficient than lateral or shelf filing as additional space is required to pull out the drawer or filing frame and vertical filing has height restrictions for health and safety reasons
 Lateral filing where the file is inserted into the file holders sideways is the most space efficient with some tall tambour cupboards able to house seven rows of filing. There are also no pull out elements to it and is comes into its own in corridors. As the file only expands the amount of paper it holds if is more space efficient than shelf filing. The file holder is always in the same place this means this system performs well when files are required quickly as the user instinctively knows where the file is placed within the system

Simple Filing Systems
Traditionally in the UK we can split types of filing into three very simple systems and this seems to cope with the huge amount of files that we tend to create
Shelf filing
Files sit on the shelf in a cabinet more often than not in A4 or foolscap lever arch binders and lever arch files. If the files are unable to sit on the shelf then we recommend a slotted shelf with dividers for other files a simple plain wooden or metal shelf is sufficient.
Vertical or Suspended filing
These are the files that are used in a filing cabinet and can be A4 or Foolscap, they are also suspended on pull out filing frames within tambour cupboards. Most good filing cabinets and pull out frames will support both A4 and foolscap although you should always ask the question before making a purchase
Lateral filing
In the UK this is filing where the papers are filed sideways on, often with a manilla inner file leaving the lateral file holder in a permanent position. These files hang off a lateral filing frame or cradle, or from a lateral shelf. Confusion arises over US terminology for a lateral filing cabinet which we sometimes call a side filer which houses vertical files.

Stylish and practical these metal office cupboards are of a moulded sheet steel structure which is available in epc paint finishes Silver, Black, White or Anthracite. Doors and back are in MFC with a good choice of finishes being pear, white, grey, wenge and walnut each edged in ABS for protection. There are also glass door options in White, Mocca brown or Ruby Red glass. Levelling feet can be accessed from the inside of the cabinet.
