Designed by Studio 7 in Berlin from 2004 this office chair features a unique Kinematic spine mechanism. The SETU chair has only one control, for height adjustment. Designed with the one chair fits all idea, this office chair is aimed at the changes in office activity where there is more mobility and activity and office chairs are less likely to be designated to individuals.  The design of the one piece shell and supporting beam ensure that the chair adjusts individually to a person’s weight. Flatline is a contemporary designer furniture collection from German office furniture manufacturer Jahnke it features a stainless steel frame and legs in a trestle table design. Tops are supplied in either 25mm white or graphite MFC or in 12mm grey tempered glass. Desk sizes are 1400mm and 1000m rectangular with a corner link to form corner workstations. A three drawer under desk pedestal and desk height four drawer pedestals provide storage immediate to the desk. Combinations of bookcase and cupboard doors permit full height and combination cupboards. There is also a selection of office display shelving consisting of a stainless steel frame and white MFC shelves. Artifort are a Dutch manufacturer of contract and office seating based in Maastricht. They were originally founded by an upholsterer called Jules Wagemans. By the end of the 30’s the Company was well known in Holland and survived the Great depression by producing innovative furniture designs. The early use of Epeda coiled springs, until then only used in mattresses, instead of straw and horsehair, gave the factory a huge boost. Led by Jules son Henricus the name Artifort was adopted, taken from the latin Arti for Art and Forti for strength. After the second world war Artifort resumed production with more modern designs often with a Scandinavian influence. The appointment of designer Gerrit Rietveld propelled the Company to further expansion with groundbreaking designs such as the Congo Chair. In 1957 Artfort employed over 400 people and converted a disused brewery into its new factory. Designer Kho Liang Ie was responsible for much of Atifort’s output in the 60’s and 70’s as well as the move into the international contract furniture market. Artiforts latest collections include a broad range of reception and break our seating, meeting tables and conference furniture. This range of office furniture is supplied with a bull nose PVC edge which apart from the improvement to the aesthetic, can also be viewed as an ergonomic feature and offers additional protection to the outer edge of the desk. 25mm thick tops are available in four finishes, Grey, Cherry, Beech or Walnut. This exhibition has just opened at the Barbican Centre London and is the first of over 70 events being staged around London in tribute to the famous architect. This latest show is collaboration between the Vitra museum, RIBA and the Netherlands Architectural Institute. The programme includes talks by many architects who will speak about the influences Le Corbusier has had on their work, these include Architects from the Foreign office, William J Curtiss, Charles Jenks and others.
The exhibition is on until the 24th of May. Exhibits include a complete kitchen taken from the Unite d’Habitation Marseille and a mural from Corbusier’s Paris studio
