Samsung SUR40 – Microsoft Surface 2.0 Desk

Office desks have always been the same for countless decades. The desks, whether they be corner desks or rectangular desks are usually finished in a laminate or veneer wooden desktop. With the advancements in technology and having a multitouch table top computer as a desk was a thing that was only in science fiction films and novels however Samsung have created a table that does just that.
The Samsung SUR40 table that was unveiled during the last 2 CES conventions proves to be a product of the future. The table top features a massive 40 inch 1080p LCD screen that features full HD display and is protected by the world’s largest piece of Gorilla Glass that provides full protection for the computer that it houses. The desk runs Microsoft’s second generation platform that has been named the surface 2.0 and has PixelSense touch screen technology that will make Apples iPad look like a mere toy in comparison.
The SUR40 can be used as a desk that can easily fit an ergonomic office chair underneath or it can be mounted on the wall for use in presentations and boardroom meetings. The wall mountable function is a new feature as the table no longer uses cameras hidden under the table to recognise finger touches. Instead PixelSense allows 50 simultaneous touch points on the surface.
The computer itself is powered by an AMD-based Windows 7 technology that uses a Microsoft Surface 2 platform. The table itself does not come cheap. The price for the desktop only is $8,400 (£5401) or if you require the stand that will enable it to be used as a desk then that will set you back $9,049 (£5817.65) So not a desk for those looking for economy office furniture.

The Laptop Tower – Just as Ergonomic as it is Functional

All we seem to hear these days in the office furniture industry is ergonomics. It is a very important subject especially as more and more people are getting injured at work due to spending long periods of time working at their office desk and sitting in their office chair. Not only is this problem increasing, but the portable way of working is on the rise as well. There is one product that is trying to combine these two factors and that is the LaptopTower LT.

The design of the Laptop tower is unlike any other office desk. You don’t use a chair for this, you simply stand which means that already you are in a more ergonomic posture. However within the realms of office furniture there are ways that you can a lot save money by just reconfiguring your office. Listed are three ways in which you can do so.

Firstly think about the rooms you are using and if you are getting the most out of them. A typical example of this is a boardroom. If you are just using the room to have meetings around a large modular table why not think about replacing the large table with smaller meeting room tables? Unfortunately in many instances you will have to spend money in the short term in order to save money in the long term. Making your office open plan is a great way to save on space. Why not try to incorporate bench systems instead of singular desking. Bench systems are becoming more and more popular, look modern and save much needed space.

Pix is a range of Italian designer open plan and executive furniture that wont break the bank. Available in a choice of two leg styles the metal T leg and or 80mm diameter pole legs. Both of the leg frames are available in contemporary white or glossy aluminium finishes. Desk tops are 28mm thick and are offered in Walnut, White, Light Oak or Grey. Start: designer office furniture

                                   We have added a new range of office furniture to our bench systems and call centre furniture lines. Start is an Italian designed elegant and contemporary range available in fashionable desk top finishes, white, light oak and Caneletto walnut. The stylish legs and frames are offered in white or silver (glossy aluminium) as standard. The range includes add on desks and tables for bench desks, training rooms and boardroom table applications. An interesting feature of this range are the section of desk supporting pedestals or service units. There are low level cupboards that sit in part under the desk offering local storage and double up as a desk return. They also define the workspace for the user. Drawers and doors incorporated into these units can be left or right handed and can even open on opposing sides, allowing two users to share the same unit.  Large format desks are also available measuring 1600m x 1600mm with a cockpit shaped user side to give greater access to the desk surface.
The lead time for Start is four weeks from order and is normally delivered flat packed and palletised. Buraile now availble in white

The Buraile range of office furniture is now available with a white top and a stylish white metal desk frame. This range has an integral modesty panel for additional stability. Cable management is provided via the two 80mm diameter silver cable outlets provided within the desk top surface. Vertical cable management is also provide via an integral cable riser within the leg of the desk. The desk top comprises 25mm thick Structurex panels with
Post formed edges on the user side of the main desks and extension tops. Under desk pedestals are constructed from 16mm wood and joined with metal inserts. The leading edge of the mobile pedestal is also post formed. Anti tilt is provided buy a fifth castor and the drawers have meal sides and are fully opening. These heavy duty drawers have a maximum loading of 30kgs and are opened by side pulls. The pedestals are also centrally locking. Matching bookcases, office cupboards and side filers are also available with the cupboards and bookcases having adjustable, metal shelves included within the price. Bench desk systems have grown in popularity since FST became more affordable and office replaced their CRT screens which were less space efficient and used up more energy. While we still sell vast quantities of corner desks we have noticed especially with project based work that a bench system is preferred. The Avalon series is now available as a bench desk, and looks to be one of the most economical on the market. Manufactured in the UK this system is available with 13 desk top finishes and s substantial heavy duty steel frame in silver. The extent of range is much smaller than say the Diamond range however it does have the edge not only on price but on lead time as well, which tends to be around 7-10 working days depending on location.
