Despite the worsening global economic downturn Techo the Czech office furniture manufacturer have increased profits by 17% and sales by 7% . There has been a drop off in orders of late and some agency workers have been laid off but the time workforce is still intact. Techo was founded in 1991 by Jiri Kejval and operates in Romania, Georgia, Hungary and the UK. In 2007 Techo has been under the ownership of Ahrend office furniture in Holland. Local storage
There are a number of items offered by office furniture suppliers which will provide quick and easy access to files at stationery at the desk. Pedestals or desk drawer unit can be provided as a mobile unit that sits underneath the desk or as a static desk height unit alongside the desk. Pedestals are available in a number of drawer configurations; we find the most common is two shallow drawers with a filing drawer below. Side filers describe a 2 drawer filing unit normally 800mm wide and desk height that can be planned to sit alongside or act as a desk return. Offering around 1500mm linear filing this is a useful piece of furniture for those who carry out a lot of administrative work. A side filer is often single purpose with no drawer sides there also options that have full sides that provide a more flexible solution fore storage of multipurpose items. The Magirond rotary storage is also a useful method of storing a large number of files close at hand and can is available in a number of different heights

This exhibition has just opened at the Barbican Centre London and is the first of over 70 events being staged around London in tribute to the famous architect. This latest show is collaboration between the Vitra museum, RIBA and the Netherlands Architectural Institute. The programme includes talks by many architects who will speak about the influences Le Corbusier has had on their work, these include Architects from the Foreign office, William J Curtiss, Charles Jenks and others.
The exhibition is on until the 24th of May. Exhibits include a complete kitchen taken from the Unite d’Habitation Marseille and a mural from Corbusier’s Paris studio

Elite lockers
A range of storage lockers available on a quick ship, doors are available in red, blue, yellow, maroon, grey, light blue and green, teh carcass is always light grey. Elite lockers are of welded frame design for extra strength and durability. The hinges are semi concealed and are riveted to the frame of the locker to facilitate easier replacement. The doors are also positioned within a rebated frame which increases the security of the locker compartment. Nesting holes are available on all three sides of the carcass to allow lockers to be joined together. Popular sizes of these lockers are also priced in two and three nesting options so that savings can be made on larger installations. The return flange on the base of the locker provides for extra strength and alleviated floor damage.
These lockers are made from cold rolled steel, the carcass and shelves have a thickness of 0.70mm and the doors are 0.90mm.They also have an anti bacterial coating and are passed for use in hospitals and schools. Steelcase the international office furniture manufacturer have teamed up with Armstrong the commercial ceiling specialist to producer a range of sound absorbing products called Soundscapes. The products are aimed at reducing noise in offices and can best be described as acoustic canopies and clouds. Soundcape come in a variety of shapes and sit under the ceiling and have been shown to absorb 785 more sound than normal ceilings. Soundscapes can also add an aesthetic appeal to the overall design of the office convex and concave sections called Hills and Rivers have been designed to provide a focal point as well as having an sound insulating effect.
