Olympus Cameras go Kinetic
The Kinetic office chair has been supplied to Olympus since it was first launched on our web site three years ago. These chairs features independent seat tilt, and pump up lumbar support as standard. A management size seat and back adds to the comfort of this office chair Height adjustable arms have a drop down facility. This is very useful when the chair is likely to have a number of users over its lifetime. In fact, this is almost certainly always the case since you should really hope to get more than 5 years out of your office chair in a medium use environment. The arms on the Kinetic office chair can be dropped out of the way to enable the user to seat closer to the desk and also allow the chairs to be easily rolled under the desk top which is useful when cleaning the office. The Kinetic office chair is manufactured in the UK and is available in a comprehensive range of fabrics, genuine or man made leather on a 10 day lead time. These office chairs are delivered assembled and ready to use,. An adjustable headrest is also available as a useful accessory.
Please let us know if you would like any further information on Kinetic office chairs

Filing Systems The Pro’s and Cons
In my last post I determined the three main types of traditional office filing as being shelf filing, vertical filing and lateral filing and a promise to explore the features of each.
Shelf filing
Files placed on shelves in lever arch or box files can be placed in tall cabinets and is good for archiving or filing documents that aren’t used often. When space is at a premium it is often worthwhile to consider the amount of space that is not utilised within these files themselves. We have seen semi archival filing systems which have only a few sheets in box files while other departments are trying to find open plan space, in one office in particular we have redesigned the whole area and released vital floor spece by reducing the size of the archival filing system.
Vertical filing is the most popular form of filing in the UK often in the form of wooden and metal four drawer filing cabinets. It is ideal where the files are retrieved and refilled on a medium to high frequency basis. It is less space efficient than lateral or shelf filing as additional space is required to pull out the drawer or filing frame and vertical filing has height restrictions for health and safety reasons
Lateral filing where the file is inserted into the file holders sideways is the most space efficient with some tall tambour cupboards able to house seven rows of filing. There are also no pull out elements to it and is comes into its own in corridors. As the file only expands the amount of paper it holds if is more space efficient than shelf filing. The file holder is always in the same place this means this system performs well when files are required quickly as the user instinctively knows where the file is placed within the system
Our product library around is around 30metres of lateral filing and as we are constantly advising our clients on designs and products on the telephone it has become an invaluable tool.

Simple Filing Systems
Traditionally in the UK we can split types of filing into three very simple systems and this seems to cope with the huge amount of files that we tend to create
Shelf filing
Files sit on the shelf in a cabinet more often than not in A4 or foolscap lever arch binders and lever arch files. If the files are unable to sit on the shelf then we recommend a slotted shelf with dividers for other files a simple plain wooden or metal shelf is sufficient.
Vertical or Suspended filing
These are the files that are used in a filing cabinet and can be A4 or Foolscap, they are also suspended on pull out filing frames within tambour cupboards. Most good filing cabinets and pull out frames will support both A4 and foolscap although you should always ask the question before making a purchase
Lateral filing
In the UK this is filing where the papers are filed sideways on, often with a manilla inner file leaving the lateral file holder in a permanent position. These files hang off a lateral filing frame or cradle, or from a lateral shelf. Confusion arises over US terminology for a lateral filing cabinet which we sometimes call a side filer which houses vertical files.
Confused? Come back for a further analysis of these three filing systems.

RH Office Chairs
Founded by Rolf Holstensson in 1977 in Bodaford Sweden. Rolf founded the Company after experiencing discomfort with his won office chair as well as witnessing the issues that his colleagues were having with their office chairs. The chairs developed by RH seating are designed to facilitate an upright posture. Their chairs are hi performance often with extra high backs and seats to give a greater degree of comfort. T
Some RH office chairs are 100% recyclable, coupled with their low energy production methods and exchangeable back and seat rest pads makes a purchase from RH environmentally sound. Today RH office chairs turnover 38million Euros and operate in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and the UK. The UK office and showroom is located in South West London. The brands are well known by physiotherapists across Europe and all have the Mobelfakta awards which is equivalent to UK standards for office chairs. Rolf also introduced the two point philosophy. Active seating (1) in the upright position (2) and it is under this criteria that chairs from RH have been created.
