Cornhill Dental surgery in based in Bridgwater, Somerset and operates with a simple idea to make dental care as comfortable and as affordable as possible. They offer a number of treatments from whitening and cosmetic dentistry to filings and crowns and can tailor any dental solution to each individual’s requirements.
We received a call from the practice manager Heather Kertz in April who indicated that a new reception desk was required with delivery and installation to coincide with a refurbishment of the surgery and the updating of the IT systems. As the surgery was close to our Somerset Headquarters we arranged a site visit to meet Heather to discuss the reception area in question and to take overall measurements of available working space.
It was clear that the existing desk was not serving both receptionist and customer, it was looking tired and the front panelling, being one height was effectively misguiding each visitor when signing documents and paying for dental care. The new reception desk had to have a counter top high enough to house the monitors and had to also combine some storage facility for paper documents. They also required an established signing in point and paying point which would elevate the misguiding issue that they were having.
The practice manager had selected two reception desks from our website which she thought could be used within the refurbished surgery; the Luna and the Avalon reception desk. We planned out each proposed desk using our industry standard cad design program pCon and emailed the surgery a detailed 2d plan and 3d visual along with a competitive quotation which included free installation on the Avalon range.
On further discussion about the requirements of the desk it was clear that the Luna desk although extremely visually appealing and stylish did not offer the same modular options as the Avalon range. We continued with a secondary visual showing the Avalon desk at 600mm deep with two working desks which led to a 90 degree low section unit with an executive glass shelf followed by a DDA section. We sent the surgery wood samples with the preferred and chosen finish being Japanese ash with a mirrored front on the base units.
The installation was a success and was timed alongside the IT installation which was necessary as the surgery could not close during the changeover, this really helped the staff and visitors as disruption was kept to an absolute minimum. We went back to meet the staff who were really pleased with the Avalon reception desk supplied by Office Reality.
