Haworth Office Furniture Founded by High School Arts Teacher GW Haworth the Company was first known simply as Modern Products and made wooden furniture. The move into the world of office furniture began with the production of modular office partitions or office screens in 1954. In 1967 Haworth began is involvement ion office chairs with the launch of the Plia chair designed by Giancarlo Piretti. This chair is a permanent exhibit at the New York Museum of Art. In 1971 Modern office modules designed by Dick Haworth as a response to the growth of office screen based workstations that was sweeping across the US. With Dick Haworth as CEO Haworth expanded rapidly in the 80’s. Products as this tome included pre wired panel based office screen systems called Power Base. In 1992 Haworth became the first US office furniture manufacturer to receive ISO 9000 and in 1999 ISO 140001 for environmental practices. In 2005 after being with Haworth for over 10 years Fanco Bianchi took over as CEO and President. Haworth is still a privately owned Company and has offices in 120 countries employing more than 8000 people.
