Based in Motta di Levenza near Venice Magi produce design orientated conference chair and tables as well and public and soft seating for the contract furniture market. Magis was founded in 1976. The first product they produced was a ladder called Step. Although this was an unusual product at the time and wasn’t well received the Company now boasts to having sold over one million units. Magis is "factory free" and outsources its production to sub contractors in the region. This enables them to concentrate on design and they collaborate with many renowned furniture designers, such as Jasper Morrison and Stefano Giovannoni. The later bringing the Bombo to the table which has now become a design icon. The Bombo is now available as a swivel chair and with a fixed stem for public spaces. Magi best selling chair is a stool called the Lyra, probably one of the most copied stools in the contract furniture market. In addition to contract and office furniture Magis have also designed a range of office accessories including coat stands and waste paper baskets
