Office Reality Joins the Movember Movement

So ladies and gentleman, November is nearly upon us. Christmas is on the horizon, Halloween takes place this Friday and bonfire night is next week. It’s an exciting time of year. But, there is one big event I’m missing out… MOVEMBER!

Office Reality is pleased to announce their participation in this year’s Movember challenge.

Why are we partaking? Well the answer to that question is simple. We want to raise money and awareness to help combat one of the biggest killers of young men – prostate cancer.

Many of the men in the office are clean shaven, which should make for interesting viewing in the mornings. As I sit here writing this blog I sit with a full face of facial hair, which I’ve had since I was 16, and the thought of shaving it all off on Thursday evening doesn’t excite me too much. But, it’s for a great cause, so why not? We will be sharing all of our pictures with you throughout the month. Our photo sessions begin this Friday. Everyone involved will be turning up to work clean shaven for their mug shots. Every Friday morning we will have our pictures taken to show you guys how our MO’s are coming along. Our weekly MO updates will be posted to our social networks in the afternoon.

The History behind Movember

The Movember Foundation is an Australian based, non-profitable, charitable organisation that implements the Movember event each year across the globe.

The Movember event creates awareness around men's health issues, saving and improving the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems by raising funds for carefully selected beneficiary partners in every country involved.

Since its inception as a formal charity in 2004, Movember has raised over £346 million (GBP) globally, significantly increasing awareness of prostate cancer in the community, and is continuously working to change the attitude men have about their health.

Movember's beneficiary partner in the UK is The Prostate Cancer Charity, which was set up in 1996. In its relatively short life, the Charity has played a key role in raising both public awareness of the disease and political debate about services and support. They aim to provide hope for tomorrow through the research that they fund and practical support for today through their extensive and growing information services.

All funds raised by Movember in the UK stay in the UK and go directly to The Prostate Cancer Charity.
