Sedus Stoll Office Seating Sedus a German manufacturer have been involved in the manufacture of office chairs and office seating since 1871 and were the fist company to introduce the swivel chair in 1925 and also the first to develop an office chair on castors in 1930. Always as the forefront of developments in the world of office furniture, in 1971 they opened their own research facility with the largest in house testing facility in the office furniture industry at the time. In 1991 they sold the their one millionth office chair from their Paris collection and were also awarded ISO 9001. 1995 saw Sedus become the German equivalent of a PLC and they later took a major stake in Klober GmbH, one of their rivals. In 2002 they merged with an office furniture manufacturer, also in Germany called Gesika. Today the group turnover £140 million and the employ over 1100 people.
