Why use Facebook and Their Apps Part 1

September 7th 2012

June 2010 saw Facebook reach a count of over 500 million members which made it the third-largest nation in the world, if it was an actual country. It is for this reason that more and more businesses are using Facebook as a marketing tool. Whether you are a business similar to ours, one that sells office furniture, cafe furniture, educational furniture etc... or if you simply are just advertising a brand, it will probably be beneficial for you to create a Facebook page.

Here are a few tips that you should take into account when creating a Facebook page to make sure that you get the most from your page and use it to its full potential. The idea of a Facebook page is that the more "likes" you get the larger your audience. This means that anything that you choose to post within Facebook or on your Facebook page will be seen by the people that have liked your page. The question is, how do you get these "likes" in the first place?

One important marketing tool that is being utilised by even some of the larger corporate businesses is fan gates. Fan gates are a great way of converting visitors to your page into fans. How this is done, is that when a visitor lands on your page, instead of going straight to your timeline, they reach a welcome page or gate that they can read to gain more information about your page. The reason that this is useful is that you can control what the non-members of your page can see over what the members can. You can use this page to generate curiosity or show a promotion the visitors can access if they like the page. You can put anything on this fan gate to try and ensure a conversion from visitor to a member.
