Based in County Durham, Flooring Superstore are the UK’s fastest-growing flooring retailer with over 5,000 ranges of carpet, laminate, vinyl and vinyl tiles. Flooring Superstore is the sister brand of Direct Wood Flooring and Grass Direct who specialise in quality wood flooring and artificial grass.
In June 2020 Flooring Superstore approached us, as because they were fully refurbishing their newly acquired 10,000 square foot office which has capacity for 150 staff members.
Nick Bisicker the Chief Logistics officer at Flooring Superstore said:
“The office building we acquired was very dated, dull and in desperate need of some care and attention. We really wanted to create a new and exciting environment for our staff to work in. Somewhere that’s modern, fresh and enjoyable to spend their days in. We put a lot of thought into what the staff would like and how we could help them be happy at work and thrive in this new environment.
The Meeting Rooms
There were three separate meeting rooms, in need of some TLC and had to reflect the three brands Flooring Superstore, Direct Wood Flooring and Grass Direct. The Bodo colour rectangular meeting room tables were specified for each room and they were colour coordinated to tie in with each of the brands. The Bodo table range is perfect for coordinating company brand colours as the tapered wooden legs are available in twenty one RAL colours. Bodo is supplied with Oak legs as standard in a wide choice of board finishes, in this case, the contemporary slate finish was chosen. Bodo storage was also chosen to compliment the boardroom tables and can also be aesthetically pleasing by choosing a two tone finish.
The stackable Brunswick Conference chairs with arms were chosen for all meeting rooms with the seat pads matching in with the colours of the Bodo table. The seats are available in a number of different coloured fabrics and vinyl’s with the backs featuring a black mesh material, helping to keep you cool in the summer months. Further specifications for The Brunswick chair include the frames coming in a choice of black or chrome.
The Marketing Office
Smaller Bodo meeting tables were installed in the Marketing offices providing an informal meeting or break out breakout area for the staff. The Mitre Designer upholstered conference chairs were chosen for these meeting areas in a vibrant orange which is in keeping keeping in line with the new creative wall graphics.
The desks for these areas were from the Italian design led ‘Idea Tube’ range. The minimalistic look of the T shaped legs and the thick 30mm tops make it a perfect contender for those looking to match practicality with aesthetic.
The Reactive Ergo Operator chairs kept the colour brand message clear, as the flexi backs come in a choice of seven stunning colours including the vibrant orange, as seen here. The seat on the Reactive Ergo Chair also features a waterfall style front, which helps to relieve pressure on the back of the thighs improving blood circulation to the lower limbs.
Another design inspired desking system that was used in this project: The Elica 2 way Desk and Credenza Combination unit. This desking system is extremely versatile and can be used in a number of combinations combining workable desking surface with useful storage systems. It’s minimal and simplistic and very easy to install. Meeting tables, video conferencing units and Trigon desks are also part of the Elica family.
Transport and Sales Offices
The final desk range used for the Sale and Transport office was the Trapezo Industrial 4 person bench system. Bench systems create an inclusive working environment and are particularity well suited to sales and logistical teams.
The Trapezo bench desk leg frame is an A-frame style and is available in white, aluminium or black. The desk tops come in a range of finishes with Nebraska Oak and textured timber being a popular choice. Cable ports are also fitted to the tops keep all cables and wires tidy and in place.
The Reactive Ergo chairs were also chosen for these offices ensuring consistency throughout but with a varying splash of colours coordinating with the brand colours.
The Upper management offices
The Trapezo bench desks were installed and were cleverly modified with modesty panels. These desks were facing in to the room, and at times client facing, so it was important to hide any unsightly items. The timber finish of the desks and black legs really worked within the design scheme for this office.
We were really pleased to be able to supply and install furniture from some of our favourite ranges such as Bodo, Elica and the Reactive chairs. Seeing the furniture being assembled and matching the colourful and vibrant branding of Flooring Superstore created a real buzz for everyone involved.
We would like to thank Nick Bisicker and Jessica Fox from Flooring superstore for their help and cooperation in bringing this case study to you.
