A knowledge and library service centre, situated within the grounds of the Hereford County Hospital, is available for all NHS staff and students to use daily. Their in-house data search services are very useful, especially for postgraduates who are still in the learning cycle and require up-to-date information. Additionally, the centre facilitates training and study sessions either through Zoom or Microsoft teams.

At the beginning of the year, there was an increasing demand at the centre for independent study areas. Still, their existing study booths were insufficient as they did not provide enough privacy and rated poorly on an acoustic level. A decision was therefore made to create several quiet study zones where each user could take the necessary information in the form of books, laptops and tablets and migrate to a study booth to research their chosen topic.

A total of 6 x Aegis solo pods were specified, each at a height of 1800mm, which when placed together would create the required quiet study and learning zones. The Aegis solo pods are a great choice for libraries and learning centres because the panels are 55mm thick and have been tested and proven to give a 30db noise reduction.

Each panel is upholstered in sound-absorbing fabrics which are available in several different textures and colours. On this occasion, an NHS blue was chosen for the lower base panels with a light grey for the upper panels. The Aegis solo pods are also very quick and easy to install, requiring a minimal tool set, again making these an ideal choice for libraries and learning centres where disruption and noise should be always kept to a minimum. The Aegis Pods have been very well received at the Knowledge and Library Centre and are in regular use by NHS staff, students and postgraduates. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are considering acoustic pods, booths or work zones for new and improved learning and study purposes.
