Sit-stand desking

FILTER YOUR RESULTS

Sit-stand desks have become increasingly popular, and for good reason, they encourage movement. There have been many articles, scientific research and even news bulletins highlighting the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle and sitting for prolonged periods at work. Although standing up at work will not solve these highlighted problems such as back problems, increased blood pressure and muscle ache it will inevitably encourage and give the option to move more frequently. Within this category you will find a range of height adjustable desks to suit your needs, the Elev8 Mono is a  practical and economical solution as the mechanism operates on a single motor whereas the Elev8 Touch operates on a twin motor.

Height adjustable sit-stand desks and furniture

The world today sees more and more people working in offices and positioned at desks. Most office workers, on average, spend about 6 – 8 hours sitting at their desk and for a good part of that time staring at a computer screen. The rise of the computer has dramatically altered the western world and transformed the ways in which we work.

In the 1970s this became of great interest to scientists, who had heard the complaints of office workers regarding frequent injuries, aches and pains. Ergonomics was born, and the demand for ergonomic desks soon followed.

So what is an ergonomic sit-stand desk?

Ergonomic furniture is designed with the human body in mind and is manufactured in relation to the results found by ergonomic studies. Sitting in a constant position can put pressure and add stress to the spine and this ultimately can have long term negative effects to the health of the user. Sit stand desks are a great way to prevent a user from being seated in a static position for a long time and can be easily moved up and down to suit the user.

However, the equipment used in offices doesn’t have to always touch the employee in order to be considered ergonomic. A desk, like the ones we feature in this range, can also be ergonomic. Height is extremely important and so many of our ergonomic desks are height adjustable to suit various different heights. This is important in offices where employees move around often or for wheelchair users.

We provide an extensive range of ergonomic furniture including desks and compatible storage. Feel free to contact us with any questions – we are happy to offer advice and help with any queries you may have. All of our ergonomic desks are delivered for free to UK mainland postcodes.
