HAG Capisco Puls 8010 Plastic Task Chair

HAG was originally established as a small furniture manufacturer in Oslo, Norway. The company decided during the 70's to put all their resources and focus into office seating, which only made up a small part of their manufacturing capacity at the time. This focus was also in line with a strong human-centred design ethic for HAG and they launched a chair collaborating with a Danish doctor, Aage Christian Mandal. The aptly named Doc chair had a centre tilt and a fluid tipping seat based on the theory that 'Man is not made to sit still, but made for movement and variation'

In 1984 the innovative Capisco stool was designed and launched by Peter Opsviks who had been hired as a freelance designer in the early 70's. The Capisco stool was innovative because of its sculptural shape and that it offered a new way of sitting or half standing. The initial design was inspired by the horse riding position, keeping oneself upright whilst sitting or standing, hence why there are stirrup-like grips on the top of the foot base and a saddle moulded seat. It became an example of Opsviks own mantra 'The next position is always the best one'

Since then The Capisco has become a modern furniture classic and has been redeveloped a number of times with the introduction of the stripped back plastic shell version The HAG Capisco Puls in 2010. The HAG Capisco stool has become the best selling office chair for Scandinavian Business Seating and continues to receive numerous awards for its groundbreaking design.
